K of C Newsletter June 2023

Council 3956 May 2023 Newsletter

Brother Knights and Friends,

Our newsletter begins with an invitation to our next business membership meeting on May 3, 2023. We will be accepting more nominations of officers and then elections. These will be the men who will have an opportunity to set the direction of our council for the next twelve months. We each have our ideas of what service to the community is of the most importance. This is an opportunity to set that direction by seeking an officer’s position or becoming a director or project chairman.

For those that just want to help, there will be plenty of opportunities. For those that want a fun time, there will be plenty of opportunities. Upcoming will be our Charity Family Breakfast, The Motorcycle Blessing, Celebration of Mother’s Day, a Red Wing game, a Tiger game, a Euchre game for the adults, planning a parade, a memorial golf tournament, our church festival and more.

As always, I encourage you to read the articles from many of our officers. Each has a message to deliver that is near and dear to their heart. Give them the courtesy of reading what they have to say. See that there are opportunities to volunteer online for many of our upcoming projects. Read on to learn more.

Peace,
Anthony (Tony) Chirco

Council 3956 April 2023 Newsletter

Brother Knights and Friends,

HAPPY EASTER!

Our newsletter arrives in the mist of so much going on. Our council is growing as this past month, we announced five new brother knights will be joining us. Welcome each of you. Your decision to help us build a better community is much appreciated.

Thank you as well to our “seasoned” brother knights who tirelessly work for the greater good. Our school, our associated charities, the less privileged all are much better for the work that you offer for them.

We strongly encourage those who have been reluctant to offer their help, to come to our meeting on May 5th and see for yourself, not only what you have been missing in your life, but see for yourself what others, less fortunate are missing because you hesitate to use God’s gift for the purpose he intended for you.

For the small council that we are, we do so much. Imagine how much more could be offered if more of us come forward. Many of our active brother knights came back. We are so fortunate that they did.

There were a lot of men at our last meeting. My co-editor Robert Park’s reflection observes. “We have not peaked. The men before us laid a foundation for a strong organization. Be hopeful about the future of the Church and the work we have ahead of us.”

Peace!

Council 3956 March 2023 Newsletter

Brother Knights and Friends,

Blessing to each of you as we enter into this Lenten season.

We suggest you keep this newsletter handy for reference as we enter into March. There is so much going on in the weeks ahead, that we would like you to come back to this as a reminder of what is coming up. Each of these us have responsibilities in our work and family, yet many of us dedicate hours weekly to build our council, which is so important to our community. We humbly ask that you give but a fraction on that time in the months ahead to any of our many programs.

To make it easier to see what may most interest you to help, we have included within our MESSAGE BOARD beginning on page 5 a list of the events coming up. Please glance through and find for yourself what of these most interests you. We ask each one of you to pick at least one (or more), then be there and enjoy the company we share and help others. Lent would be a great time to start!

Peace!

Council 3956 February 2023 Newsletter

Brother Knights and Friends,

First and foremost, please make a point to come to our General Business Meeting this Wednesday, February 1st in the Social Hall. See page 3 of the newsletter for the meeting notice and a list of the agenda items to be discussed. There is a lot that is needed and each project is important. Just pick the one that is most appealing and give us and your community a few hours of your time. That’s all we ask.

You will also notice that several flyers are inserted within the newsletter inviting each of us to attend some pretty fun events including DESERT MEAL for our Seminarians in February, our popular CORNED BEEF AND CABBAGE DINNER and an invitation to a RED WINGS GAME in March. A rescheduled JOHN TIBBS CONCERT is also in March. We continue to be involved with our St. Pius X school with helping with games and hosting a Winter Ice Cream Social for helping raise money and donations for the Coats for Kids program.

Our Grand Knight Mark Garcellano, District Deputy Ray Bilyk, Deputy Grand Knight Dave Kudlas, Deacon Chuck, Past Grand Knight Bill Robert, and Co-Editor Robert Clark all have messages to share. Even yours truly provides some history about St. Valentine and Valentines Day. There is even a Word Search sent by our Program Director Brian Batko.

Remember your Valentine on February 14th!

Peace!

K of C Newsletter February 2023

K of C Council 3956 January 2023 Newsletter

Brother Knights and Friends,

Wow! What a year that was.

We grew as a group this past year. We collectively filled many needs that without the Knights of Columbus council 3956 would not have been achieved. There are Kids with Coats that will face a warmer winter. There are homeless people that have been fed. There are people with special physical and mental disabilities that have been given hope. There are victims of a torturous hurricane that have received relief. There are families in our own community that have received our help. These are among the many recipients of our relentless efforts to make their world a better place.

In this newsletter we look back at what we achieved and look ahead at how we can do more and better. Thank you to each of the worthy officers and directors that articulated their thoughts, promoting our purpose and soliciting your help. Thank you to the quiet Knights that volunteered this past year.

Where are you in your life’s journey and have you achieved peace and happiness in your life? Have you reached an achievement of purpose? Reciprocate God’s abundant blessings by making your world a better place. Please read through all that has been written for you, maybe one of the articles will motivate you to learn how and why we need you. Have fun with the word search and read an ageless New Year’s prayer from Billy Graham that concludes this newsletter.

Peace!

K of C Council 3956 December 2022 Newsletter

Brother Knight and Friends,

Happy Holy Days to you all. Our Calendar is full of Holy Days, but none more anticipated than the celebration of our Lord’s birth on Christmas Day. Special thanks to the newsletter team; DD Ray Bilyk, GK Mark Garcellano, DGK Dave Kudla, PGK Bill Robert, Deacon Chuck Dault, Program Director Brian Batko,  Richard Gregiore, and Co-Editor Robert Park. Each has taken the time to provide for you some insight into what was, is and will be in store for our Knights of Columbus Council.

This month we added a few new twists: We begin with the history of advent, including a link to learn more. Our invitation to our next meeting now includes a summary of topics to be put forward. We wrap in up (thank you Brian) with a Catholic Crossword Puzzle. Answers will be on our website. (No cheating).   Attendance has grown at our recent meetings. Come see why and visit some old friends on Wednesday, December 7th, starting at 6:00 pm in the Social Hall.

May you and all those you love have a Blessed and Merry Christmas. May the year ahead bring fulfillment of our potential and good health in body, mind, and spirit.

Peace.

K of C Council 3956 November 2022 Newsletter

Brother Knights and Friends,

Now as Thanksgiving Day approaches, let this newsletter help you find your way. The men that have contributed have taken the time and energy to send you a message. Please take the time, first to read through, including the flyers and allow yourself to be inspired by their messages. The newsletter is not just a list of what we have done and what we are planning to do; but a call for each of us to join together for the common good.

Come to our next meeting, Wednesday, December 7, 2022 beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the Social Hall. Dinner will be served. Bring your own thoughts of what you want to get out of your Knights of Columbus. In the meantime, come to church and speak to one of the ushers about what would inspire you to get involved.

Happy Thanksgiving to all and God Blessings to you and your family!

K of C Newsletter November 2022

K of C Council 3956 October 2022 Newsletter

Brother Knights and Friends,

A picture is worth a thousand words. Indeed they are. Grand Knight Mark Garcellano’s message this month is short on words, but his collection of photos from this past summer’s events speaks volumes. I’m sure there will be more pictures to share with many of our upcoming events. Please come be a part of these activities and show off your good looks.

Among the pictures that start our October newsletter are from Florida in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian. Yet, with the ravages of the storm, a statue of our Blessed Virgin Mary was spared. It’s remarkable and showcases God’s power and protection.

Coats for Kids is well underway, so are the many activities we have to help our St. Pius students, including the recent Soccer challenge and Trunk or Treat later this month. We are also planning to raise money for St. Cabrini in Parrish, Florida that had their memorial garden devastated by hurricane Ian. Father Bob would quote “Many hand make for light work”. Come lend us and our community your hands.

Finally, we have a responsibility as citizens of our church and nation to vote. Please don’t forget, there is a lot at stake. Tuesday, November 8th is election day!

Peace!

K of C Council 3956 September 2022 Newsletter

Brother Knights and Friends,

As we get close to the fall season, many of the familiar events are approaching. Not just the cooling temperatures and the changing colors of the leaves, but the return of Doughnut Sundays and Charity Family Breakfast. Fund raising such as Coats for Kids has begun and soon enough our Tootsie Roll drive for the mentally impaired is already being planned. All of this and so much more has been written up for you in our September newsletter attached.

We have had a busy year. Much of it for fun. We had picnics, and boat cruising, beer nights and dinners together. We really are having a great time, Mostly, because we love what we do and who we do it with. It’s nice to be around people that genuinely care about each other and our families.

There are very inspiring articles by Deacon Chuck, Grand Knight Mark Garcellano and each of our officers and directors. I truly encourage you to read cover to cover. It’s worth it. Finally, read the challenge to take “baby steps” towards fulfilling God’s purpose for you and “have a chance get a taste of what we do and why it is so fulfilling for us”.

Peace!
