VOLUNTEERS NEEDED THIS WEEKEND – M.I. Drive for Mentally Impaired (Tootsie Roll Drive)

Brother Knights, family and friends,

Thanks to our Council Warden Larry Rossi, we got permission to solicit funds (and hand out Tootsie Rolls) on this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the intersection of Eureka and Dix/Toledo Roads from 9AM to 4PM.

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS to make this weekend a success!

We are also soliciting donations at ALL of the St. Pius X Parish doors after all of the Masses (Saturday 4PM Mass, and Sunday 9AM and 11AM Masses).

If you can help at the intersection (even an hour is helpful), please contact Brother Larry Rossi by email at TootsieRollDrive@kofc3956.org

If you can help at the Saturday 4PM and Sunday 9AM Masses, please contact Program Director Brian Batko by email at TootsieRollDrive@kofc3956.org

If you can help at the Sunday 11AM Mass, please contact Grand Knight Bill Robert by email at TootsieRollDrive@kofc3956.org

We really need everyone’s help to make this a successful event! Remember the lesson of the First Degree… Charity!

IMPORTANT Council 3956 Meeting Reminder – Wednesday, April 4th at 7PM

My Brother Knights,

VIVAT JESUS! This is just a reminder that there is a Regular Business Meeting on Wednesday, April 4th starting at 7PM in the St. Pius X Social Hall.

We will be opening nominations for Council Officers at that time. If you are interested in helping our Council by becoming an Officer, please attend this meeting. If you would like to know more about a specific position, feel free to attend the meeting or email me (raybilyk(at)kofc3956.org). If you cannot attend the meeting, but are interested in running for a position, please email me as well. (A great PDF pamphlet with descriptions of the Officers and their responsibilities can be found HERE.) After tonight, nominations will be tabled until the May 2nd Regular Business Meeting, where we will ask for nominations once more, close nominations and elect Officers.

A VERY IMPORTANT REMINDER… There are at least 2 Officers (Deputy Grand Knight Dave Sajdak and myself) that will NOT be running for those offices again! We REALLY NEED Brother Knights to step up and run for offices this year. I am serious when I say this: If I can do it, you can also!

NOTE: You must be a 3rd Degree member by June 30th in order to become an Officer. (Don’t worry… there are still 2nd and 3rd Degree Initiations being held before then, including one we are hosting on Sunday, June 24th.)

We will also be discussing our Coffee & Donuts/Membership Drive on Sunday, April 8th, our Charity Family Breakfast and Tootsie Roll Drive on Sunday, April 15th and other upcoming events.

Hope to see you all there! God Bless!

Charity Family Breakfast and Tootsie Roll Drive THIS WEEKEND to Assist Michigan Citizens with Intellectual Disabilities

This weekend after all of our Masses, we will solicit donations as part of the Michigan Knights of Columbus ‘MI Drive’ (more commonly known as the Tootsie Roll Drive). We need the help of every member to make this a success!

Along those lines, we are holding our last Charity Family Breakfast of the season this Sunday, April 23rd with the proceeds also going toward this drive! We hope that all of our friends and supporters will come and enjoy a delicious breakfast, all for just a small free-will offering. (We need the help of every member to make this a success as well.)

The charities we will support this year include:

  • St. Louis Center
  • Special Olympics Michigan – Area 23 (Wayne)
  • The Arc Downriver
  • Angel’s Place
  • St. Francis on the Lake
  • Archdiocese of Detroit (for Intellectually/Developmentally Impaired)

With your help, we can help others! Hope to see you all this weekend! God bless!

Tootsie Roll Drive on Palm Sunday Weekend – Need your help!

tootsieroll_kofc

On Palm Sunday weekend (March 18, 19 and 20) throughout Michigan, Knights of Columbus Councils will be out on the streets and at Church entrances soliciting donations to help people with mental impairments. Bernard P. O’Brien Council #3956 will be one of them… and we NEED YOUR HELP!

On Friday, March 18th and Saturday, March 19th, we will be out at pre-approved street intersections in Southgate soliciting donations, and on Saturday, March 19th and Sunday, March 20th after every Mass at St. Pius X Parish, we will will be asking for donations (and passing out Tootsie Roll candies of course).

We are asking all of our Brother Knights to take an hour or more this weekend and live in practice one of the pillars of our Order: Charity! Please come out and help us solicit donations, especially on Friday and Saturday. We are allowed to solicit donations from just after sunrise until just before sunset.

If you can help or have any questions, please email our Chairman Ron Wagner at TootsieRoll@kofc3956.org – Any time you can give us will be appreciated… not just by me, but by those with intellectual disabilities.

Thank you, and I hope to see you all this weekend!!!
