VIVAT JESUS! This is just a reminder that there is a Regular Business Meeting on Wednesday, April 4th starting at 7PM in the St. Pius X Social Hall.
We will be opening nominations for Council Officers at that time. If you are interested in helping our Council by becoming an Officer, please attend this meeting. If you would like to know more about a specific position, feel free to attend the meeting or email me (raybilyk(at)kofc3956.org). If you cannot attend the meeting, but are interested in running for a position, please email me as well. (A great PDF pamphlet with descriptions of the Officers and their responsibilities can be found HERE.) After tonight, nominations will be tabled until the May 2nd Regular Business Meeting, where we will ask for nominations once more, close nominations and elect Officers.
A VERY IMPORTANT REMINDER… There are at least 2 Officers (Deputy Grand Knight Dave Sajdak and myself) that will NOT be running for those offices again! We REALLY NEED Brother Knights to step up and run for offices this year. I am serious when I say this: If I can do it, you can also!
NOTE: You must be a 3rd Degree member by June 30th in order to become an Officer. (Don’t worry… there are still 2nd and 3rd Degree Initiations being held before then, including one we are hosting on Sunday, June 24th.)
We will also be discussing our Coffee & Donuts/Membership Drive on Sunday, April 8th, our Charity Family Breakfast and Tootsie Roll Drive on Sunday, April 15th and other upcoming events.
THANK YOU to those of you Brother Knights that have already signed up to help with our Dime Toss Booth. We are looking for more people to assist there and with the Craft Beer Booth that we are handling on Sunday ONLY. To sign up, please follow the link below: https://www.SignUpGenius.com/go/409084BAAAE29ABFF2-2017
If you still have any glasses/cups/mugs for our WORLD FAMOUS Dime Toss Booth, you can bring them in person this weekend. We can always use more!
This festival is very important for us because this is also our MEMBERSHIP DRIVE WEEKEND! We can use EVERYONE who attends to assist in asking eligible Catholics to join us in our good works… that they can see with their own eyes! I’ll make it interesting… FOR EVERY PROPOSER WHO BRINGS IN A NEW MEMBER (and they join us), I WILL GIVE THEM A $5 GIFT CARD FOR LITTLE CAESARS (or a $5 donation in your name to St. Pius)! (No, I don’t get a discount on the pizzas… I wish!) Ask anyone and everyone to join us in the Knights of Columbus!
Next Wednesday, September 6th at 7PM, we will be holding our monthly meeting in the St Pius Social Hall. Please attend if you can. We have a lot to discuss, so we would really like you to know what’s going on.
Hope to see you at the festival this weekend and/or at our meeting next Wednesday!
This weekend after all of our Masses, we will solicit donations as part of the Michigan Knights of Columbus ‘MI Drive’ (more commonly known as the Tootsie Roll Drive). We need the help of every member to make this a success!
Along those lines, we are holding our last Charity Family Breakfast of the season this Sunday, April 23rd with the proceeds also going toward this drive! We hope that all of our friends and supporters will come and enjoy a delicious breakfast, all for just a small free-will offering. (We need the help of every member to make this a success as well.)
The charities we will support this year include:
St. Louis Center
Special Olympics Michigan – Area 23 (Wayne)
The Arc Downriver
St. Francis on the Lake
Archdiocese of Detroit (for Intellectually/Developmentally Impaired)
With your help, we can help others! Hope to see you all this weekend! God bless!
Due to the power outage still affecting St. Pius X Parish, we must cancel our Charity Family Breakfast scheduled for Sunday, March 12th. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and hope you will support our next breakfast on Sunday, April 16th.
Our sister council, Wyandotte Council 1802, is hosting a euchre fundraiser this Friday, February 24th, to support the Pallottine Fathers. Their Chaplain, Fr. Noel, has informed the Grand Knight, Ron Thoms, that the money will be used to support seminarians becoming Pallottine Fathers. See THIS FLYER (click for flyer – PDF) for details.
On Sunday, November 13, 2016, Council 3956 will once again hit the grills and ovens to make a delicious FAMILY BREAKFAST. This month’s recipients are St. Vincent dePaul and the Downriver Food Pantry. Both of these charities need help to feed our Downriver families during this holiday season.
Come by after Mass to the St. Pius Social Hall and join us for eggs, pancakes, sausage, fruit, juice, coffee and/or tea. It’s a free-will donation, so bring the whole family. Even if you can’t afford to pay anything, stop on by… we have you covered!
I’m attaching a copy of the flyer for the Christmas Concert. Please print and hang it up at locations where we can get some visability. We’re also looking for sponsors from area businesses. We have a letter that you can use to solicit sponsorships. We are also looking for Brother Knights to take and sell tickets to friends and family (10 to start per Brother Knight). Contact me for details on both.
On Sunday, March 13, after every Mass, Bernard P. O’Brien Council 3956 is hosting a Charity Family Breakfast at the St Pius X Social Hall, with the proceeds going towards the St. Pius X Catholic School Emergency Tuition Program. We will have Eggs, Sausage, Pancakes, Fruit, plus juice and coffee, all for a free will offering. Of course, we are also taking donations and will be asking eligible Catholic gentlemen to join our Council.
Brother Knights, we can use your help! We are having a Membership Drive after all the Masses this weekend and during the Charity Family Breakfast itself. We also need some people to assist in prep and cutting fruit starting at 3pm Saturday. On Sunday, you can arrive starting at 7:30am and help with the preparation and distribution of the breakfast to our guests. Any time that you can donate would be appreciated! You can stay for an hour or all morning!
